Did You Invest $10,000 in Starbucks (SBUX) IPO in 1992?

I recently read an article written by Motley Fool that mentioned that a $10,000.00 investment in Starbucks (SBUX) when it went public in 1992 is currently worth about $2.8 million dollars as of May of 2010. That is an impressive return of 28,000.00% over 28 years or 1,000.00% per year. The article had such an impact on me that I decided to research how realistic this scenario could be.

Based on inflation $10,000.00 in 1992 is equivalent to $18,772.00 in 2020.

Review of Rich Dad Poor Dad By Robert Kiyosaki

Rich Dad Poor Dad is one of the most popular personal finance books ever written. I have an interest in personal finance and I have always been aware of the book through various media outlets, however, I have never read or listened to the audio book until now. I have a short attention span so the thought of reading a 207 page book is overwhelming. This Review is based on listening to the audio version of the book.

What do you need to know about the 3 credit bureaus when repairing your credit?

This article originally appeared on TrueCredit

https://www.truecredit.com/what-you-need-to-know-about-the-3-credit-bureaus/

You may already know TransUnion, Experian and Equifax are the three national credit bureaus to contact if you want to repair your credit. Simple enough. But knowing more about what they do, what they don’t do and what you can do makes it easier to navigate the credit reporting/credit repair system—which can save you time, money and aggravation. Here are 3 credit bureau facts you may not know, but should.

Fact 1: Each bureau produces its own report & score.
Each of the 3 credit bureaus produces their own, separate credit report and their own separate credit score. That means one bureau’s report or score may not look like another’s report or score, especially since some creditors may report information to one or more bureaus at different times. This is why you have to contact all three credit bureaus when you are repairing your credit.

Why it’s important:
To get a more complete picture of your credit, you should pay attention to your credit at all 3 bureaus. And that’s why, for example, TrueCredit offers credit monitoring for all 3 bureaus.

Fact 2: There’s no such thing as a legally required free annual credit score.
But many people think there is. You are legally entitled to a free annual credit report from each of the 3 credit bureaus, which is the starting point of any credit repair process . But none of them come with a score. That said, when you get your annual credit report from one of the bureaus, the bureau may show you a separate offer for your credit score. That score offer may be free or carry a fee. It’s up to the bureau, but just know they’re not required to offer you a free score.

Why it’s important:
There are many good reasons to know your credit score—it shows you where your credit stands at any one time and it’s a quick way to keep up with your credit health, among other benefits. Just know you’re not entitled to it free of charge at annualcreditreport.com. Whether you can get free scores somewhere else or how much you’d pay depends on the score, seller and a lot of other details.

Fact 3: Knowing which bureau(s) to contact depends on the kind of issue.
Before you contact a bureau, it’s a good idea to know which bureau or bureaus you need to reach. And that depends on what you want to do.

  • To dispute something on your credit report, contact the bureau that produced the report.
  • To place a fraud alert on your credit files, pick a bureau, any bureau. It doesn’t matter which, because each of the 3 is required to notify the others about your fraud alert.
  • To place a credit freeze (sometimes called a security freeze), you need to contact each of the 3 credit bureaus.

Why it’s important Knowing which bureaus to contact can save you time, which is nice if you have a little time to save. But it becomes critical knowledge when your credit may be at risk or when you think you may have become a fraud victim. It pays to know what to do when every second matters.

Take the next step: protect your credit and start saving money

Why Credit Scores Are Like Grades

This article originally appeared on TrueCredit https://www.truecredit.com/why-credit-scores-are-like-grades/

Think back to a time when your performance was measured in letter grades. Basically, having a great credit score is equivalent to being an A student.

Or, for people at the other end of the spectrum, having a low credit score is much like being a C or D student. If you just think about your credit score in terms of the letter grade system, the comparisons are easy.

And, the reality is that your parents or teachers were somewhat right — your grades can determine your future, like the fact that high school grades were a large factor in where you could go to college. Well, just like that, your credit score influences the types of loans you can get, as well as the types of interest rates you’ll pay.

But it’s important to understand that your credit score (unlike your grades) does not necessarily “go down in your permanent record.” Nope, the credit scoring system is much more forgiving! Your credit score is always changing, and you definitely have control over how it will be in the future.

You can’t go back and retake Calculus junior year, can you? But let’s say your credit score is not exactly perfect — a few late payments on cards, or loans — it doesn’t mean lenders will blacklist you for life. If you get your financial house in order, which is often as simple as starting to make regular on-time payments on your credit cards and loans, then over time your score may rebound. While your school transcript will always show that C+ in AP History, your credit score only shows your current creditworthiness. It lets lenders evaluate how much of a risk you are, as well the type of interest rates you’ll get, whether for credit cards, a car loan, a personal loan or mortgage.

The system is cyclical: lenders report your payment history to the credit rating agencies (the three major agencies are Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion), and they act as a kind of hub, a place where your payment performance is centralized and can be accessed by lenders. This “hub” helps creditors make decisions much faster. Today, with our online capabilities, lenders can approve or deny applications almost instantly. In addition, your credit score is free of biases. It isn’t influenced by factors such as race, religion, marital status, or gender. And it’s a great system in that your credit score doesn’t scar. It isn’t permanent. It changes with you and your habits over a lifetime. You know how sometimes you look back at school and think “if only I knew then what I know now?” Well, with your credit score, you can always learn to do it better!

Buying a House With No Credit History

Buying a house is an exciting moment when you feel like an adult on the verge of accomplishing a monumental milestone in life. You have identified the house you want to buy, you have your down payment, you have the ability to pay the mortgage, and you have good credit.

Unfortunately, all these outstanding attributes may not be enough if you do not have sufficient credit history. Lenders prefer to give mortgages to buyers who have more than one tradeline and several years of credit history. For home buyers with several tradelines and several years of history you should be able to secure a mortgage without difficulty.

For home buyers who have no credit history or credit history that is very short there is a solution for you to achieve your goal of becoming a homeowner. Your lack of credit history does not have to spell the end of your goal of becoming a homeowner. The hurdle you face can be overcome by simply buying one or more tradelines. Buying a tradeline allows a person to design their credit report to look exactly like an ideal borrower that lenders seek. UStradelines.com sells several tradelines to enable customers to improve their credit history and FICO scores to achieve their financial goals.
